:: Dental Implants ::

Dental implants are titanium fixtures that are placed in the maxillary bone, they are a replacement for the roots of the natural teeth and act as anchorage for the replacement teeth.

Dental implants can be placed when a tooth or teeth are lost or in risk of being lost. They can be placed when it exist sufficient quantity and quality of bone, if necessary, procedures to increase the maxillary bone by means of grafts can be performed.

Age is not a contraindication to enjoy the benefits of the dental implants. Nevertheless, good health is a more important factor than age. If you have good health to have a tooth extracted, surely you can have one or more implants placed.

The length of the treatment depends on the complexity of the case. The treatment is carried out in 2 phases separated by a minimum of 2 months. During this time a temporary prosthesis is placed for the patient to use.

To place the implants a surgery is carried out, generally with local anesthesia, if the patient desires it can be with sedation. In most cases there are no complications or excessive inconveniences after the procedure.

When teeth are lost you can note changes in esthetics, chewing and self-esteem. When a tooth is lost we lose the crown and the root, this brings as consequence bone lost in the area where the tooth was extracted. As a result the person looks older, the neighboring teeth move, the nerves turn sensitive and the chewing is painful and difficult. When a dental implant is placed the root is substituted, the bone in the area is conserved and the negative effects of the dental lost are reduced.

Composite fillings

Better known as porcelain crowns and bridges, the tooth/teeth that is going to be used as abutment is prepared (grinded) and the crown or bridge is cemented over it. Crowns are use in cases of lost of significant dental structure or tooth with root canal treatment. Bridges are use to substitute lost tooth/teeth using at least one tooth on each side to retain it.

Removable partial prosthesis
Is a prothesis that stays in place using hooks to the remaining teeth and that the patient removes when ever Its necessary.

Complete prosthesis (denture)
Is the prosthesis that is placed when the patient has lost all the teeth, this prosthesis returns the support to the lips improving the appearance. They can be used as over-dentures on implants or natural remaining roots.

:: Endodontics (root canal treatment) ::

This treatment is done to keep a tooth from being removed when bacteria has reached the pulp (where the nerve is) and pain or infection are present. The root canal is disinfected and sealed, afterwards a crown is recommended in this tooth.

In some cases it's necessary to retreat root canals previously done because bacteria has filtered to the canals.

:: Periodontics ::

Is the treatment done in the gums when periodontitist is present and bone has been lost around the tooth roots having tooth mobility, inflammation and gum bleeding. It also refers to gum and bone grafts surgery.

:: Orthodontics ::

Is know as braces and used to correct teeth in bad position. Can be used in kids and adults, the treatment time depends on the case, the normal treatment goes from 12-24 months with monthly visits. The patient may choose between metallic or esthetic braces.

:: Maintenance and Prevention Program ::

It consists of the subscription by the patient in a plan for tooth cleaning and check up appointments programmed every 6 months or less if necessary, the patient will be recalled prior the appointment and will be offered a special price in these appointments as well as the implements necessary for tooth cleaning for the next 6 months.

:: Single tooth missing ::

	The best way to replace a lost tooth is by a dental implant, it is not necessary to affect the neighboring teeth.
	Placement of the implant and crown After doing a complete diagnosis the implant is placed, if it is possible a temporary crown used, we wait a couple of months for the implant to integrate to the bone and finally place the permanent crown.
	Final Result The ceramic crown is placed, the new tooth will function and will be seen as a natural tooth, you just need good dental hygiene to keep it the rest of your life.

	Tooth supported fixed bridge Adjacent teeth are grinded and give support to the bridge.
	Removable partial denture It's made of plastic material and uses metal clasps in some teeth to keep it on place.
	Resin bonded bridge Adjacent teeth are not grinded but de-bonds over time and has to be re-cemented.

:: Several teeth missing ::

	When posterior teeth have been lost the only alternative to place a fixed bridge is with dental implants.
	Placement of the implants and Bridge After a complete diagnosis the necessary implants are placed, if possible a provisional bridge is used, we wait a couple of months for the Implants to integrate to the bone and finally place the permanent bridge.
	Final Result The ceramic bridge is placed, the new teeth will function and will be seen as natural teeth, you just need good dental hygiene to keep it the rest of your life.
	Another alternative - Partial prosthesis removable In case of not there to be subsequent pieces to bear a fixed bridge the unique one another alternative is to place a prosthesis maintained with hooks in the existing pieces, which the patient will remove each time that be necessary.

:: All teeth missing ::

	All teeth missing When all the teeth have been lost the best alternative to recover function and appearance is with dental implants.
	Placement of implants and complete fixed prosthesis After a complete diagnosis the necessary implants are placed, if possible a provisional bridge is used, we wait a couple of months for the Implants to integrate to the bone and finally place the complete fixed prosthesis .
	Final Result The complete fixed prosthesis is placed, the new teeth will function and will be seen as natural teeth, you just need good dental hygiene to keep it the rest of your life.
	Another option with implants A minimum of 2 implants can be placed so that an over-denture is retained on a bar or pillars in the shape of ball (o-rings). In this way the patient obtains a secure prosthesis but that can be removed to clean it.

	Another option without implants A conventional prosthesis is placed with the disadvantage that this moves and does not permit an adequate chewing.
